Yes, I am back. I don’t think I’m going to come up with a format for these posts or anything–just going to get down to the business of sharing my thoughts.
“Gilmore girls” is one of my favorite shows of all time. The first thing to note is that I have always been unsure whether you’re supposed to use the lowercase “g” for “girls.” In the show it is lowercase, but it feels like it should be uppercase when you’re writing about it. I never researched the answer either because I’m not sure I know what to type into Google, but that’s not important.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen this opening episode and I’ve never seen all the episodes so I’m excited I get to do that now. I love how they are introduced. It opens in Stars Hollow with Lorelai Gilmore crossing the street to Luke’s. I don’t know how to describe it except that it doesn’t feel contrived. It feels like we are immediately getting a peek into their lives without feeling out of place if that makes sense.
She is there for coffee of course and from the first dialogue between her and Luke you know this show is going to be witty, right off the bat. Then a guy passing through town hits on her and when she says she’s meeting someone, he doesn’t give up. Rory shows up, she gets more coffee, for her daughter of course, and the same guy starts hitting on Rory. This is when we find out Rory is her daughter. Boom! Character introductions made! I love it. 🙂
